Cassian Ven Dyke, an illegitimate son of a powerful ducal family, spent his childhood in Veldora's slums under the mentorship of Russel, a skilled sword master. Upon Russel's death, Cassian inherited only a silver necklace. When he donned the necklace, three violent thugs attacked him, subjecting him to torture in their pursuit of the valuable pendant. Despite their brutal interrogation, Cassian refused to surrender it. During the assault, one of the attackers drove the necklace through Cassian's heart, delivering what should have been a fatal wound. However, instead of perishing, Cassian inexplicably disappeared as the necklace became embedded in his chest.
