Chapter 53

My eyes slowly opened again, I saw no one in the room this time, the room was dark, I felt my hand soaked, I looked and saw Christian crying. I pulled my hand away from him and turned my head away.

"Sophie..." He called me.

"Why didn't you come?" I asked in a hoarse voice. "I was in the Church, when I heard your call I came as fast as I could but the moment I came you passed out." He said panting heavily.

"You were late... again." I said bitterly as it pricked both of us like a needle. I swallow the lump in my throat to not to cry. I opened my mouth to say something but the door opened,

"Your food."

She served the food and left.

"Not gonna look at me?" he said as I shook my head 'no'. "Really?" He asked again and I again shook my head.

"Not even want to see my face?" He asked. I again shook my head.

"Fine then.. if you don't want me to be with you." He said as he stood up.

"Go away!" I said clutching the clovers tightly. Please don't go. Stay.

He began to walk and I shut my eyes as a tears was about to fall from my eye but before it could rolled down he wiped it off,

"I will never leave you alone." He sternly said. I slowly opened my eyes and looked at him looking at me with eternal fondness.

"I thought Eugene could handle you alone, looks like I was wrong." He said walking towards the tray of food, placing it on the table and taking it towards me.

"I want you and no one else beside me..." I whispered so lowly that he couldn't hear it but he did.

"I also came to know about it just now... when you called me that badly." He said sweetly and helped me to sit.

"Eat up, you haven't eaten in a while." He said with a smile. I held his cuff looking down, I sniffed not to cry.

"Hey, don't cry. I am here and I am not leaving you from beside you. I was wrong to leave you in someone else's care. I won't do it again." He assured me. I nodded and kept looking down.

"Come on, eat." He said, giving a spoonful of soup. I slightly opened my mouth as he fed me.

"Have you eaten?" I asked.

"I'll eat later." He said. "Really?" I asked.

"yeah." He continued to feed me as I asked again, "Where's mother and Eugene?"

"They left for home. But don't worry, I'll stay here with you." He said. I looked at the time, it 8 pm.

After eating, he helped me to lay back again,

"Christian.. When I can go back?" I asked.

"The day after tomorrow." I laid back and held his hand. He began to rub my hand and I closed my eyes as I fell asleep again.

The next day, the doctor came and I felt slightly embarrassed because of the recent stunt of mine,

"Hello, Sophie, How are you feeling now?" She asked sweetly as usual.

"Fine.." I passed her a faint smile.

"I can see how much you love him." She said doing that routine check up.

"Well, you can leave tomorrow." She said, my smile grew wider. Christian gave my shoulder a gentle squeeze.

They left and after a while Tyler came to meet me, "Well, How's my Sister-in-Law?" He asked with a smile. I am feeling all too pure.

I remained silent and didn't answer.

"Recover quickly, then we're gonna have a party to celebrate your-"

"Stop it Tyler, It's not a time for a party." Christian said, glaring at him.

"That's why I said after recovery." He replied.

"You know, he just kept on talking about you." He said. I looked at Christian who was slightly flushed.

"I love to have her in my arms. I love the taste of her delicate lips. I lo-"

"can't you shut up damn it!" Christian said, raising his voice. Did he say that?

"Why? Didn't you-" He was cut off when the door knocked and Candice entered with a bouquet of roses for me,

"Hey, Sophie, I came to wish you for your recovery." She said entered. She turned her gaze and looked at Tyler. Both of their eyes widened as they said with venom,

"You!"

"You!"

"Do you guys know each other?" Christian asked.

"I wish not." Spat Tyler.

"I am also not dying to meet you. I came here for her."

"You are the one that loves following me ." Tyler said.

"And you, who follow my trails like a dog." She mocked him.

"Christian, she is that ill mannered girl I told you about." Tyler growled.

"Sophie, he is that rude guy who thinks he can do anything with money." She growled back.

"Oh, and you, who can't even work properly."

"Well I rather be jobless than to serve someone like you!" She hissed. Wow, what a level of hatred. I looked at Christian who was looking at them in amusement. He was enjoying it.

"I don't even want you to serve me, woman."

"I have a name, Richie Rich."

"I also have a name."

They continued to bicker at each other. I let out a chuckle looking at them like that. Christian looked at me and grinned. They also turned their attention towards me and passed me a smile and scoffed at each other.

"Get well soon." Candice smiled. I smiled back.

"Good to see your smile, Sister." Tyler said.

"Candice why didn't you tell me you lost your job, you also-"

"Oh, don't worry about it girl. I may have lost my job due to a certain someone, but I am working somewhere else now." She said.

"I have no regrets to get that woman fired." Tyler said in a low tone but we heard it.

"Like you can die under the weight of regret." She muttered.

"Okay, I think it's enough." Christian said, but it seems like he wants them to continue so that I can smile looking at them.

They both sighed and continued to act as if Candice didn't exist for Tyler and Tyler for Candice.

After they left, Christian caressed my cheeks, "The sound of your laugh gives me serenity." He said kissing my forehead.

"Everything's gonna be fine." He assured me. I closed my eyes and remained like that, receiving the feeling of lull...

I have been discharged finally.

"Do you want to go home or somewhere else?" He asked.

"Somewhere like?" I asked feebly, I am feeling so weak, I am sitting on the bed, all those drips and stuff is finally off from me.

"Like a park or a restaurant or your mother's place?" He suggested. My heart skipped a beat, my grip on my dress tightened when I heard the word 'park', I am never going there. Never.

I began to quiver looking down, Christian pulled me in an embrace and kissed my head. I held his shirt tightly, trembling violently.

"Shh.. it's okay. I am here. By your side." He said softly. I nodded and pulled away. I tried to stand up but the weakness isn't letting me. I tried to stand and was about to fall but Christian snaked his arms around me and helped me to stand.

"Do you want me to get a wheelchair or should I carry you?" He suggested. I mouthed 'carry'. He placed me on the bed and bent down. I looked at him perplexed,

"What? Do you want me to carry you like a bridal style?" He asked with a smirk. A faint smile crept upon my lips, I shook my head 'no'.

I wrapped my arms around his neck and my legs around his torso. He held my legs and my arms,

"Make sure not to fall." He said as we walked out. I saw mother and Tyler. Mother smiled and Tyler smirked looking at us. And the looks of other people- not to mention.

"Tyler, do all the paperwork." He said,

"Yeah, you enjoy it." He said, winking.

"You expect me to enjoy carrying air on my back." He teased. I puffed and remained silent. Tyler laughed and left,

"I'll also take my leave. Take care of yourself." Mother said and also left. I put my head on his shoulder and smiled a little. We were standing in the lobby, people were looking at us, but I didn't care, I felt so secured in his arms, just like a safe-shelter saving me from the abomination of this world. I closed my eyes and felt this feeling to fill me up, at least this lowers those disgusts and intense terrors a little.

He placed me on the passenger seat and then went to the driver as we went home...
