The Captive Novel

Cassandra discovers a threatening letter in her mailbox: "I'm coming for you. No matter how far you think you can run, I can assure you that you can't hide and I'm closer to you than you think." These messages arrive regularly, placing her entire life in jeopardy and pushing both her and her husband Mustafa to the edge of desperation. Cassandra struggles to identify her pursuer. She considers Dan, but dismisses him—their shared past contains too many painful secrets for him to pose a threat. Another possibility haunts her: the loan shark who enslaved her at age nine, now seeking to recapture her. Yet another suspect emerges in her mind: her own mother, who may be gambling with her daughter's life once again through another reckless scheme. As these threats escalate, Cassandra must confront her traumatic past to understand who truly wants to bring her back into captivity.
